Prime Minister Narendra Modi will soon chair another meeting to discuss the situation in war-ravaged Ukraine. Top ministers and officials will likely to be in attendance.
There was a meet in the morning also, in which it was decided that four senior ministers will fly to Ukraine’s border nations to coordinate the evacuation of stranded Indian students.
Jyotiraditya Scindia will leave for Romania and Moldova while Kiren Rijiju will go to Slovakia, Hardeep Singh Puri will travel to Hungary while Gen. VK Singh will be in Poland to manage the evacuation of Indian nationals stranded in Ukraine.
The agenda for the meeting in the morning was the Ukraine crisis and Indian students who are stranded in the middle of Russia’s invasion.
Around 16,000 students are still believed to be stuck in Ukraine, hiding in bunkers, holed up in bomb shelters or their hostel basements.
Opposition parties, mainly the Congress, have been sharing videos of students’ SOS and have attacked the government for not bringing back students sooner.
6 flights have so far brought students back to India.
