Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman has left her office, in order to meet the President, before she tables the annual Union Budget 2022-23 in parliament, today.
The budget will be tabled at 11 am via a tablet, instead of the traditional ‘Bahi Khata.’ Last year the Modi government switched from paper to digital channels to provide a hassle-free budget presentation. Without any papers, through the “Union Budget Mobile App,” which will be accessed by all the MPs and citizens in real-time.
However, the opposition has strongly opposed this idea of going fully digital, by siting the problems of internet connectivity and processing the budget in real-time without being given ample time to react.
Yesterday, the Finance Minister presented the Economic Survey which received a mixed reaction from the public. Today, the whole country awaits as Sitharaman walks into parliament with the new budget.
