At the dawn of Martyr’s day, the country remembers “Bapu” Mahatma Gandhi on his 74th death anniversary.
From Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Ram Nath Kovind to Opposition’s Political leader Rahul Gandhi, all visited Rajghat to pay homage to Gandhiji on his death anniversary.
Remembering the father of the nation, PM Modi wrote about the importance of popularising his ‘noble ideals.’
Whereas taking a hard political dig, Rahul Gandhi targeted “Hindutva Extremism” in his tweet. He tweeted, “A Hindutvawadi shot Gandhiji. All Hindutvaists feel that Gandhiji is no more. Where there is truth, Bapu is still alive there”!
Further, he shared a verse by Gandhiji.
Every year Martyr’s day or ‘Shaheed-Divas’ is observed on 30th January to commemorate the death anniversary of the father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi who was assassinated at Gandhi Smriti in the Birla House by a Hindu extremist Nathuram Godse.
Martyrs’ Day is also observed on March 23 to remember the sacrifice of Bhagat Singh, Shivaram Rajguru and Sukhdev Thapar.
