In Dharamshala on Sunday, Shreyas Iyer remained unbeaten on 73 (45 balls) as India won by six wickets and swept the T20I series 3-0.
The victory extended India’s winning streak in the format to 12 games in a row.
The chase started off poorly for the home side as they lost Rohit Sharma to Dushmantha Chameera while Sanju Samson soon edged one to the keeper to depart for 18 runs. This is the fifth time Rohit Sharma was bowled out by Chameera.
India were 89/3 in 11 overs chasing 147 when Shreyas came up with an unbeaten 73off 45 balls to help India chase down the goal with 19 balls to spare. With 22 not out from 15 balls, Ravindra Jadeja once again provided excellent support as the duo put up an unbroken 45-run stand to give India a 3-0 victory, chasing down the mark in 16.5 overs.
Shreyas put on a solid show and led the team to the finish line with a strong performance.
India’s triumph in the third and final T20I extended their winning streak in T20Is to 12, equaling the world record for the most consecutive victories.
