ALTBalaji on Tuesday shared the first teaser of contestant promo for their new reality show, Lock Upp hosted by Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut. In the promo controversial comedian, Munawar Faruqui was introduced as contestant number two.
Fans of both, Munawar and Kangana who belong to the extreme left and right ideologies are shocked to see both the artist sharing the same screen space. As the comedian made mainstream headlines last year when he was arrested on January 1st 2021, for allegedly ‘hurting the religious sentiments’ of the majority community of this country through his jokes. Faruqui spent more than a month before he got bail from the Supreme court.
During this period Faruqui and Ranaut indulged in several twitter disputes as both belonged from opposite ideologies.
However, Munawar on his official Instagram page shared the first look of his new reality show with a caption, “Shows Huye Hain Cancel, Kya Chalenge Lock Upp mein mere plans? #LockUpp streaming from 27th Feb, LIVE free on @altbalaji and @mxplayer.”

The first contestant is Nisha Rawal, she is a famous tv actor and ex-wife of actor Karan Mehra. Rawal was in news after separating from her husband Karan, who is famous for playing the character of Naitik in the popular show ‘Yerishta kya Kehlata Hai.’ She alleged that Mehra was an abusive husband and she was a victim of domestic violence, the claim was denied by Mehra in front of the media.
The Kangana Ranaut hosted series will see 16 controversial contestants getting locked up in jail for 72 days. The various promos of the show have promised quite a fiery season and even hinted that the contestants would have to reveal their deepest darkest secrets to survive the game. Starting February 27, Lock Upp will stream 24X7 on ALTBalaji and MX Player.
