75% quota on pvt. jobs in Haryana put on hold by HC

New Delhi: 

The Punjab and Haryana High Court today put a hold on Haryana’s law of providing 75 per cent quota in industries to youngsters with domicile of the state.The court has also sought a reply from the state government.

The court was hearing a petition filed by Faridabad Industries Association and others including the Gurgaon Industrial Association on the issue.

The matter was taken up by the bench of justice Ajay Tewari and justice Pankaj Jain and it passed the stay order. A detailed judgment is still awaited.

The Haryana State Employment of Local Candidates Act, 2020, came into force from January 15. It provides for 75% reservation to local youngsters in private sector jobs that offered a monthly salary of less than ₹30,000. It covers private companies, societies, trusts and partnership firms.

The order has come as a relief for companies in the state which feel that the law would have a bearing on their future business operations and investments.

Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala said that the government will continue fighting to provide jobs to youth of the state.

“We will continue to fight for employment opportunities of Haryanvi youth 75% reservation,” he posted on Twitter after the High Court order.
