“The prestigious Ranji Trophy is all set to return to action on 16th February in cut-back form”
The league was earlier planned to begin on 13th January 2022 but had to be postponed due to the Omicron scare. According to a new BCCI schedule, the Ranji Trophy league matches will take place from 16th February to 5th March.
Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Trivandrum, Cuttack, Chennai, Guwahati, Hyderabad, and Rajkot are possible locations for the 38-team tournament. The current format is very different to the one announced earlier.
The format has been cut back and there will be a total of eight groups of four teams each with the plate group comprising six teams, with three assured games to every team. A total of 32 teams will feature in this tournament.
The three preliminary rounds are scheduled from 16-19 February, 23-26 Feb and 23-26 March.
The arriving teams will have to serve three days of quarantine and will get two days to train and prepare for the match before the tournament commences.
