Complete opening of schools with no hybrid mode, union tells LG

Due to the fact that schools in the Capital are still using a hybrid model of learning as a result of pandemic-related measures, private school stakeholders in the city have asked for an unconditional reopening, even though parents’ groups argue that a complete switch from the new session would be preferable.

The National Progressive School Conference (NPSC), which represents over 120 Delhi schools, wrote to the lieutenant governor (LG) Anil Baijal on Thursday, urging him to take steps toward the unconditional reopening of schools and the suspension of online classes, citing the negative impact of children’s prolonged absence from physical classrooms on reading and writing skills, particularly in primary schools.

Sardar Patel Vidyalaya, Bal Bharati Public School, Springdales School, Sanskriti School, and Delhi Public Schools are among the schools that make up the NPSC. The school body said that the pandemic-related closure had harmed abilities and competencies and that it was demanding an unconditional reopening that included physical activities.

The LG’s office did not respond to requests for comment.
