Union Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari laid the foundation stone of 5 national highway projects worth Rs 3,972 Cr in Belagavi, Karnataka. The highway project is spread over 238 km.
This highway project is believed to improve interstate road connectivity. Gadkari in his tweet mentioned that “The National Highway Projects of total length 238 km with an investment of Rs 3,972 Cr will improve the interstate road connectivity from Karnataka to Maharashtra and Goa.”
Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and Union Minister Pralhad Joshi were also present at the event.
In his tweet, Gadkari said, “These NHs will decrease traffic jams and fuel consumption, make commuting faster and improve port connectivity in the region. They will create investments in the region providing impetus to agriculture, industry, and tourism thereby creating employment opportunities for the urban and rural youth of Karnataka.”
Apart from this Gadkari also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of 26 NH projects worth Rs 12,795 Cr in Hubballi, Karnataka.
In Mangaluru, Karnataka, he laid the foundation of 15 NH worth Rs 3,163 Cr. he said, “It will boost inter-state connectivity by enabling seamless travel from Karnataka to Goa at the same time ensuring the safety of commuters in Ghat roads.”
