UP Polls: 53.93% votes cast till 5PM

Voting for the fifth phase of Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections has ended. 53.93% voter turnout was recorded till 5pm. Counting of votes will be held on March 10.

This phase is crucial for the BJP as the party and its allies won 50 of the 61 seats here in the 2017 elections. A resurgent Samajwadi Party led by Akhilesh Yadav is the BJP’s biggest challenger here.

46.28% voter turnout recorded till 3pm in the fifth phase of UP elections

34.83% voters turnout recorded till 1 pm in the fifth phase.

21.39% voters turnout recorded till 11 am in the fifth phase.

Voting began to decide the fate of 692 candidates for 61 assembly seats across 12 districts of Uttar Pradesh in the fifth phase of UP assembly elections on Sunday.

Polling started at 7 am and will continue till 6 pm and Around 2.24 crore voters will exercise their franchise in this phase.

BJP is counting on the building of the Ram Temple to drive home an emphatic win in Ayodhya district. Voting in another major constituency Allahabad, always remains low. It would be interesting to see if this changes this time.

Maurya offered prayers before voting began and visited polling booths. He said that BJP will win in the Sirathu assembly constituency with a huge margin. He also said that the BJP has completed many development works for all sections of society. The public will vote for development and will reject casteism, appeasement politics.
