Kashmir journalist Fahad Shah gets bail; ‘re-arrested’ in another case

Fahad Shah, a Kashmir journalist, who was granted bail by an NIA special court (TADA court) on Saturday, was rearrested, according to his lawyer.

Shah, 33, was arrested on February 4 as a result of his work, according to police, who say three separate FIRs have been filed against him for allegedly glorifying terrorism and spreading false information.

Fahad Shah runs the “The Kashmiri Walla” news outlet and magazine, and his most recent arrest took place on February 4 near Pulwama.

“Fahad Shah is wanted in three cases for glorifying terrorism, spreading fake news and inciting general public for creating law and order situations,” inspector-general of police Vijay Kumar had said.

Shah had been granted interim bail until March 12, according to his lawyer, Omair Ronga.

As his family and friends waited outside the Pulwama police station for his release, the lawyer said, the police informed them that he had been arrested in a separate case at the Imamsahib police station in Shopian.
