PWD Minister Sisodia says, “Delhi will be free of potholes within a month”

Manish Sisodia, the deputy chief minister who recently took over the additional portfolio of the public works department, announced on Friday that the agency will soon launch a mobile application that will allow residents to report inadequate road infrastructure. He further vowed that within a month, all PWD roads will be free of potholes and that if any flaws were discovered beyond that, action would be taken against the engineers responsible.

On Wednesday, Sisodia was handed the PWD portfolio, in addition to the ten other departments he now oversees.

A government spokesperson said the PWD minister has ordered a fresh inspection of the entire 1,300km of road network maintained by the PWD.

“The entire road network will be inspected and patches that require any repair will be mended within a month. Engineers concerned will be held accountable if any defect is found and the repair process will not inconvenience citizens,” the spokesperson said.

The PWD is in charge of arterial roads in Delhi that are longer than 60 feet, while civic authorities are in charge of smaller roads.
