Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh has been provided Z-Plus category security on his release from jail. He was granted a 21-day furlough bail to meet his family in Gurugram from February 7-27.
The decision to provide him with Z plus security cover was taken by the Haryana Government following reports of threats to his life from pro-Khalistan activists.
Ram Rahim is serving a 20-year jail term after being convicted in 2017 for the murder of former journalist Ramchandra Chhatrapati and raping two of his women disciples in his ‘ashram’ in Sirsa where the Dera Sacha Sauda headquarters is located.
The 54-year-old was convicted in this case by a special CBI court in Panchkula in 2017.
The Dera Chief was given furlough bail just before the state elections in Punjab and has a huge following there.
