As the country mourns the third year of the Pulwama attack (in 2019), Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Monday, asks the Bharatiya Janata Party for the proof of ‘Surgical strike’ by the Indian army in 2016, which was the counter-response to the Uri attack.
Targeting the central government, KCR said, “Even today, I am asking for the proof. Let the government of India show (the proof). The BJP makes false propaganda that is why people are asking for it.”
Further questioning the propaganda strategy of BJP and alleged that the party misuses the Indian Army’s name. “the BJP is using surgical strike politically. The army is fighting at the border. If anyone is dying, it’s army personnel, and they should be given credit for it, not BJP,” said KCR.
Meanwhile, KCR’s this statement attracted many negative comments from the BJP leaders. Assam CM HB Sarma counter-attacked KCR and said, “On the anniversary of Pulwama attack, the opposition has again insulted our martyrs by questioning the surgical strike. In an attempt to prove their loyalty to the Gandhi family, they’ve betrayed the Army. My loyalty is with the army. Abuse me all your life, I don’t care.”
Union Minister Anurag Thakur took a dig at KCR and said he is nervous about the upcoming elections. “Words of Congress & TRS sound similar to that of Pakistan. Whenever elections come, they do new experiments – be it hijab or surgical strike because they can’t compete with BJP as far as development is concerned. The questioning surgical strike shows the mindset of KCR,” said Thakur.
Surgical Strike was a counter-response by the Indian military in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) in 2016, where the Indian government claimed that they have destroyed several launch pads of terrorists backed by the Pakistan Army.
