In India, there are 58,077 new COVID-19 cases, 13.4% lesser than yesterday.
On Friday, India reported a total of 58,077 new coronavirus infections. The number of active cases have decreased to 6,97,802, according to the Union Health Ministry.
According to the report, the daily positivity rate was 3.89 per cent, and the weekly positivity rate was 5.76 per cent.
Dr Balram Bhargava, Director General of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), praised the 96 per cent nationwide COVID-19 vaccination coverage of the first dose on Thursday, saying that India is on its way to becoming a vaccine superpower. This comes at a time when the central and state governments have eased restrictions on domestic and international travel and schools and universities all over the country are reopening.
