Government to release stamps in memory of late Lata Mangeshkar

In memory of the legendary singer late Lata Mangeshkar, the central government has decided to release special stamps in order to commemorate her.

Union minister for communications and information technology and railways Ashwini Vaishnav informed that the work has already been started. He said, “this will be a small tribute on behalf of all of us to the legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar, who touched the hearts and lives of millions of people not just in India, but across the world. The work on the design for the stamp is currently on, and it will be launched on an appropriate occasion.” (Reported by ANI)

Talking about the stamps he further added, “the search has narrowed down on possibly three forms of the stamp. It could either be a pencil sketch stamp or a portrait of one of her most popular pictures or even a picture showing the mike in front of the face which has been hugely popular.”

The government is planning to unveil the stamps on her 93rd birth anniversary on September 28th.

Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar passed away this Sunday due to multiple organ failures after contracting COVID. She was sent off with full national honour in Mumbai, Maharastra.
