As a token of respect for iconic vocalist Lata Mangeshkar, the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were adjourned for an hour on Monday. Lata Mangeshkar died on Sunday at the age of 92. Some keynotes following the address were

PM’S reply to the President’s Address and his attack on Congress

Prime minister Modi stated that the Honorable President had spelt out  Atma Nirbhar Bharat’s aspirational India’s endeavours. he expressed gratitude to all of the members who expressed their opinions. Prime Minister Narendra Modi then accused the Congress of following a ‘divide and rule policy and accused the party of committing a paap [sin] and ‘crossing all limits’ by politicising the corona pandemic in his nearly 100-minute reply to the debate on the Motion of Thanks to the President’s Address in the Lok Sabha.

Opposition calls for a boycott for discussion on budget

Several members of the Opposition, led by Congress, boycotted the debate. The  Congress and other members of the Opposition also demanded Ms Sitharaman’s  presence in the house.

The absence of the Finance Minister, according to Dayanidhi Maran of the Dravida  Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) was an insult to the House. According to him, Ms Sitharaman was then appearing on a TV channel show (India Today).

Mr Maran said “She’s chosen to inform the country about the Budget through TV, instead of the Parliament.”

Home minister Amit shah spoke on the attack MP Mr Owaisi

The House was informed by Home Minister Amit Shah that an FIR has been filed in  the issue of the attack on AIMIM chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi. The home minister urged Mr Owaisi to accept the security provided by the centre which he had earlier declined.
