Amidst of ongoing Hijab row in Karnataka, the PU college of Kundapura, on Monday allowed the Hijab-wearing students into the campus premises. However, these students will sit in separate classrooms.
Earlier today, the Karnataka police arrested two men with ‘lethal weapons around the government college premises of Kundapura, where the protest is going on. According to police reports, there were three more people but they managed to flee from the scene. The police identified that both arrested accused hail from Gangolli, a village near Kundapur. An FIR has been registered against the two.
However, Karnataka Education Minister BC Nagesh still remains stringent on the ‘uniform imposition.’ The minister said, “Just as rules are followed in the military, the same is to be done here (in educational institutions) as well. Options are open for those who are not willing to follow it, which they can make use of.” (Reported by India.com)
Meanwhile, Videos from Kundapur in the Udupi district show boys and girls wearing the scarves over their college uniforms and raising slogans of “Jai Shri Ram (praise Lord Ram)” while going to college.
The Karnataka high court will hear the plea of six students against the hijab row on February 8th.
