“Rafael Nadal is just one step away from a landmark victory”
One of the greatest names to ever grace the tennis court Rafael Nadal is on the verge of winning this years’ first grand slam title. The 35-year-old Spaniard advanced to the final of the Australian grand slam for the 6th time beating Matteo Berrettini on Friday and he was all in tears after beating the Italian which is a rare sight in this game.
His rival Medvedev, who is currently the highest-ranked player in the men’s draw, is also the favourite against the world number five Nadal, and he will be glad to ruin the winning streak of Nadal.
After defeating Stefanos Tsitispas in a tense semifinal on Friday, Medvedev is chasing his own piece of history. The US Open winner is attempting to become the first man to win two Grand Slam titles in the Open era. Medvedev will need to be extra careful this year as last year he lost to Djokovic in the final.
